Harmony - Music Scouting Made Easy

Harmony
Reimagining Talent Discovery for A&Rs

In today’s music industry, social media has become the primary channel for discovering new artists. Yet, the process is time consuming, noisy, and deeply inefficient, especially for A&Rs (Artist & Repertoire), who are expected to stay ahead of trends while filtering through thousands of emails, DMs, and scattered profiles. Harmony is a focused MVP concept designed to change that.

Rather than spending hours scrolling on platforms like Instagram or TikTok, A&Rs can now discover talent in one place, faster, smarter, and with purpose. Harmony introduces a simple, human way to connect artists and A&Rs through thoughtful design and meaningful interactions.

A broken discovery process that wastes time and talent

The current talent scouting process is fragmented. A&Rs receive hundreds, sometimes thousands, of unsolicited emails, with no structure, poor context, and often no easy way to follow up. Many promising artists are lost in the noise. At the same time, emerging talent struggles to stand out or get noticed by the right people.

Harmony was built to streamline this process by focusing on what actually matters: music, intention, and connection. Through a swipe based matching experience, A&Rs can explore artists' demo tracks, profile images, and bios in a focused, distraction free environment. It’s not a social media platform. It’s a tool built for action.

Designed for real world A&R workflows

Harmony’s MVP supports core actions based on how A&Rs actually work:

  • When a match occurs, the A&R can either send an email directly or mark the artist as “contact later”

  • A built in tracker helps A&Rs remember who they've already contacted

  • Email addresses are copyable, making it easy to locate past conversations in their own inbox

This version is intentionally lean, optimized for early testing and feedback. But the vision goes further. Future iterations may include integrated chat, artist to artist connections for collaborations, and deeper analytics, so artists can see who’s listening, reading their bio, or showing real interest.

Building fast without compromising the “why”

Harmony was developed as part of Chas Challenge, a time limited school competition that required quick execution without sacrificing vision. We used Figma to create wireframes and iterated quickly, always returning to our core “why”: helping A&Rs discover and connect with talent in a more meaningful way.

Design decisions were guided by clarity, speed, and purpose. This wasn't just about aesthetics, it was about reducing friction, saving time, and enabling real opportunities.
